π One of the Best DJ's in Kenya. A day in the life of a DJ- Featuring @[Dj Falela] πΆπ§
As one of the Best DJ's in Kenya, My typical day hu-anza at 4:30 in the morning kama sija kua na gig the previous night.
First thing I do is check my schedule for the day, then check my social media platforms. Pia nacheck how much I have made on my YouTube channel. I then go ahead to check for any new music released mostly on audio Mack, YouTube and Spotify. Unaeza cheki YouTube channel yangu hapa: https://www.youtube.com/cha...
Then afterwards take a shower and head to town. First thing I do after getting to the workshop ni ku-clean up obviously, sort and analyze all the music I got earlier, alafu I check if there are any repairs or installations to do for the day. Kama hakuna, I spend my time on the internet re-viewing ads zangu. Kama niko na gig, and it's out of town I have to be in town by 6:00 am to have enough time to travel, ama I travel a day before. I also like doing most of the meetings early morning by 8 or so, to allow me to have enough time to run other errands over the day.
In the evenings, mostly nafanya my practice ama giving DJ classes or visiting club DJs and getting to interact with them as they prepare for their night gigs. I mostly do events, I offer public address, decor,dj services and MC services plus lighting. I also get to help with planning and facilitation of events as far as service provision is concerned and getting a venue. I also do clubs, but on bookings. Clubs are good, but due to the saturation of DJs in the industry, the pay is low. By 8:00pm I'm always done for the day and all I have to do is analyze all I have done for the day and plan what I have to do the next day.
I also record all of my mixes after 8:00pm so that I can do it with no disturbance and with no interruptions, and also, so I can work on my backgrounds for all my video mixes. I prefer using my background coz it helps with avoiding copyright strikes and only get restrictions and claims, though the content canβt be taken down. Advice to any upcoming DJ or establishment is that they should do research and know what suits them best and not what suits everyone and be firm on the prices. It's tough and takes time, but it's a good career and also has some side hustles on the side if you're not permanently employed coz you can never get gigs on a daily basis.
