JAMES - FOOD BUSINESS

• Competitor: A kibanda near Gikomba.

• What do they offer? Hot, affordable meals for workers.

• What do they charge? KSh 70 for a meal of ugali, sukuma, and beef stew.

• What skills/resources do they have? Skilled cooks, bulk buying from Gikomba market, and access to cheap labor.

• What’s their weakness? Limited variety and inconsistent cleanliness.

• How could you do better?

Wambui – Graphic Designer

• Competitor: A local freelance designer advertising on Instagram.

• What do they offer? Business posters, social media graphics, and logo design.

• What do they charge? KSh 500–1000 per poster.

• What skills/resources do they have? Advanced design software skills and a strong portfolio.

• What’s their weakness? Long turnaround times and high prices for small businesses.

This Week’s Assignment:

Step 1️⃣: Identify 2–3 competitors in your industry ama biz una-do.

Step 2️⃣: Talk to them, bonga na customers wao, or research them online. Answer a few questions:

• Who are they? How many options do your potential customers have?

• What is their price?

• How do they promote themselves?

Step 3️⃣: Brainstorm how you could be cheaper, better, faster, or more unique.

Once you have an idea of how you fit into the market - you can shine with your unique offering!.
