Safaricom New M-PESA Charges for Businesses
Safaricom has reduced M-PESA charges, meaning you can now keep more of the money you earn or make.
The new tariffs lower the cost of receiving payments and transferring money, making M-PESA a more affordable option for small businesses across Kenya.
Whether you own a kibanda, salon, boutique, grocery shop, hardware, restaurant or online business, these changes could save you money every day.
Kama biashara yako hutumia M-PESA mara kwa mara, hii ni update yenye haupaswi kupitwa nayo. Here's everything you need to know.
Pochi la Biashara Payments New Rates
Safaricom has introduced a 90-day promotion for Pochi la Biashara, running from 1st August to 31st October 2026.
During this period, customers sending up to KES 200 to a Pochi la Biashara account will pay zero transaction charges. That's a big win for businesses that receive many small payments every day.
Hii inamaanisha customers hawatakua na issues kutumia M-PESA kulipa chai, lunch, fare ama products za bei ndogo. The easier it is for customers to pay, the more likely they are to complete a purchase.
Transactions above KES 200 will still attract charges, but the rates remain lower, helping businesses reduce payment costs.

Lipa na M-pesa Buy Goods Till Rates
Businesses using Lipa na M-PESA Buy Goods will also enjoy lower collection charges starting 7th August 2026.
The biggest change is that payments of up to KES 500 will now be collected free of charge. Previously, only payments up to KES 200 were free.
Kwa biashara kama mama mboga, mtumba, kinyozi, salon, chips, smokie, grocery ama small retail shop, most customer payments are below KES 500. That means many merchants will now receive those payments without paying collection fees.
Payments above KES 500 will continue attracting the normal percentage charge, with the maximum fee remaining capped at KES 200.
M-PESA Business Till Transfer Charges
Safaricom has also reduced the cost of moving money from an M-PESA Business Till to an M-PESA account or PayBill account.
Some transfer charges have been cut by up to 50 percent, allowing businesses to keep more of their earnings instead of spending it on transaction fees.
Kama huwa unahamisha pesa kutoka Till kwenda kwa simu yako kila siku, utaona difference. Those savings may seem small per transaction, but over weeks and months they can make a noticeable difference to your business.
The revised transfer charges will take effect from 7th August 2026.
Why These Changes Matter
Running a business in Kenya isn't getting any cheaper. Rent, transport, electricity and the cost of stock have all gone up. That's why any reduction in operating costs is welcome.
Lower M-PESA charges mean businesses lose less money on every transaction. Customers also benefit because paying with M-PESA becomes cheaper for small purchases.
Pole pole, those savings add up. Instead of paying more in transaction fees every day, biashara inaweza kubaki na pesa zaidi ya kuongeza stock, kulipa bills ama kuinvest back into growth.
These new tariffs are good news for almost every business that accepts M-PESA payments.
From kiosks and supermarkets to restaurants, salons, pharmacies, cyber cafés, boutiques, hardware stores, freelancers and online sellers, anyone using Pochi la Biashara, Buy Goods or Business Till stands to save.
Ata kama unauza kupitia WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram ama TikTok Shop, these lower charges can help reduce your daily business expenses.
