A farmer in Uasin Gishu has tripled his maize yields by simply doing this one simple trick β¬οΈ
Instead of planting his seeds directly onto the main farm, he created seedbeds and sowed his seeds there. Thereafter germination, he was able to transfer the seedlings onto the main farm.
For one acre of land, he is able to harvest 130 bags of maize, as compared to his previous harvest of 40 bags. He has almost quadrupled his harvest.
Why would a simple seedbed make all the difference?
1.It creates an enabling environment with optimim temperatures and nutrients needed for the plant to thrive.
-
It enables the roots to form an elaborate network system that increases its uptake of food, and minerals making it to grow
-
You can start planting the seeds in seedbeds before the rains start, only watering them once in a while!
-
Due to better spacing techniques after transplanting, it's improves yields and enables better pest control.
