Back in the day we used to commute to town by train 🚆🚂. The route was from Githurai-to Dandora-to Kariobangi-to Mtundwa(Umoja)- Makongeni then to town.

Sema mwenye nguvu mpishe, it was such a hustle! You had to fight grown men to enter & for space in the coaches😰. It was quite the experience!

Simsim-njugu was sold in the coaches, preachers had their time to evangelise inside the coaches. But the most exciting experience was the heated 🔥 political debates in some of the coaches😅!

We didn't even have train stations, then, in some stops 🛑 🚏 like Mutindwa! This left you with no option but to alight and step onto a filthy dumpsite at the back of the marketplace that was mostly wet and muddy🤢.
