Back then in campus I was a determined student, had always dreamt of being financially independent. One evening, while struggling to stretch my limited pocket money, an idea struck, why not turn my passion for graphic design into a business? With no capital to start, i offered to design posters for student clubs and events for free, just to showcase my skills. My first client, the campus drama club, was so impressed that they referred me to the student union, which needed promotional materials for an upcoming festival. This time, I decided to charge a small fee—Ksh 500 per design.Working late nights in the hostel computer lab, I created eye-catching posters that quickly gained attention. Within a week, i had secured two more clients, each paying Ksh 500. Just like that, I made my first Ksh 1000! Excited, I reinvested part of my earnings into better design software and started advertising my services on social media. Through this experience, I learned an important lesson—success comes from taking initiative, offering value, and being patient. I realized that even without startup capital, skill and creativity could open doors. That first Ksh 1000 marked the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey, proving that small beginnings can lead to great achievements.
