Cash crop ya Ukambani ni Maembe.
But what does numbers say, on Mango farming?. This is our weekly segment of KILIMO NUMBERS.
In one hectare, you can grow 200 mango trees, spacing at the recommended 8m by 5m, which covers 40 m2. One tree can yield up to 1000-1200 fruits. Market estimates, one fruit is Kes 10/=, so essentially, one hectare earns you an estimate of Kes 2M.
Growing grafted Mango's takes you 2 1/2 to 3 years to start harvesting.. worthy the wait.
