Common in rural Kenya… 🌾🐂
A smallholder farmer raises a bull for 3 years, sells it, buys another young bull and starts the whole process again.
But is that really economical? 🤔
Why not buy a heifer, raise her well, then start earning from milk 🥛 and later calves?
Of course, there may be good reasons for keeping bulls—beef market, available feeds, tradition, or simply what the farmer knows best.
But if you’re keeping a bull, how can you make the business more profitable?
👉 Improve the shed 👉 Better feeding & proper supplementation 👉 Keep vaccination/deworming records 👉 Monitor weight gain 👉 Know your buying and selling price before you invest
