1.ARTICLE WRITING
This is a Kenyan street name for those who don’t do academic writing. If you don’t do academic writing, you are simply an article writer. But article writing per seh is a type of writing that involve producing written content that are mainly published on newspapers, magazines, journals and other authority sites. They are specific type of content written for larger audience. Blog posts are published on blogs, address specific audience and connects with the reader.
2.CONTENT WRITING
Content writing is basically the process of writing any content that you will find on the web. It can include writing blog posts, articles, scripts for videos, podcasts, social media content, landing pages, press releases etc. So, if anything that you are writing is going to be published on the internet, you are a CONTENT WRITER.
3.BLOG WRITING
This is basically writing content for blogging sites – blog posts. In blog writing, you need to connect with the reader (directly talking to the reader using mostly second person point of view). Sometimes, clients may ask you to give your blog post a personal touch. Here, you will need to use first person point of view (sharing your experience).
4.COPYWRITING
Copywriting is complex of all the phrases. It’s very broad and sometimes confusing. Copywriting is basically writing content for the purpose of advertising or marketing. It’s also part of content writing. For instance, if you write home pages, landing pages, sales pages, there is no harm if you call yourself a content writer. If you write emails, newsletters, brochures, you can’t call yourself a content writer because those ones are not published on the web. Common types of copywriting include:
- Direct response copywriting: Writing of home pages, squeeze pages, contact pages, emails, social ads etc
- Marketing copywriting: It involves writing of landing pages, sales emails, newsletters etc
- Brand copywriting: About us pages, about me pages,
- SEO copywriting: Writing of service pages, landing pages, product descriptions etc with two intentions: ranking high on Serps and converting traffic into leads
5.GUEST POST WRITING
Also known as guest blogging or guest posting means writing and publishing an article on someone else's website or blog. Some bloggers guest post on other people’s sites in order to get a backlink or connect with new readers
