Hello Mesher
After reading through comments on a post about the best advice for youths in their 20s, I had a thought I felt compelled to share.
For many young people, life after college comes with an unexpected challenge—feeling like a burden to their parents. The job hunt is tough; you move from one office to another, trying to secure a position that will give you a decent start. Sadly, some parents add to this pressure, with a few even resorting to harsh words that can be deeply discouraging.
I once came across a father who frequently asked his son, "Why are you still in my house when I’ve spent so much money on your education?" This was barely six months after the son had graduated. Such attitudes can create guilt, stress, anxiety, and even depression, making it harder for young people to focus on job hunting or starting a business.
So, let’s talk about it:
To those who’ve been through this: Did you ever feel this way after graduation? How did you handle it?
To parents here: What can you do to support your children in transitioning smoothly after college?
To young graduates: What advice would you give to someone in this situation or someone about to graduate?
Let’s have a sober and constructive discussion.
