PART 1:

How Angwenyi manages to feed a family of 7 on low-income in Nairobi:

1. Housing: Angwenyi pays no rent because he is a Caretaker. He wakes up early and scrubs the plot clean, makes sure the tanks are clean and in good order and electricity is running.

2. Food: Angwenyi lives near a market where food(fruits and vegetables) is sold for a song.

3. Income Sources: Angwenyi washes cars for owners who live in the same plot as him as well as others in the neighborhood. He is well trusted by people, in a good day he makes upwards of 1500 kes+

4. Angwenyi also owns a group of 6 mkokoteni(carts) which he rents for carrier jobs at the local market. Also used in ferrying household goods during relocation and moving houses. These brings in kes. 3,000 +kes on a good day.

5. Angwenyi also does landscaping -trimming grass and clearing bushes for property owners for a fee.

6. School Fees: Angwenyi takes his children to the nearby public school whereby schoolfees is highly subsidized. They have their meals provided to them at 5 kes per plate(dishi na County).

He has managed to keep his expenses minimal and keeps increasing his income sources. His money is untaxed. This has enabled him to build a small house in the village.
