I I have a question: Why do we spend so much on school fees and many years in college (four years), only to graduate and then apply for jobs in the hospitality industry where we end up being paid very little?
For example, an entry-level cook's salary is 18, 900 ksh, amounting to 16, 500 ksh after deductions. I don't understand why there is such low pay in the hospitality sector.
They have tight working shifts and sometimes extend their shifts because there is a lot of work to be done. They work on weekends and holidays; they are always working.
Can someone explain to me, please?
