I’m writing to you, my reader.
I know you’ve started reading this, and I ask you not to skip ahead.
It’s too much for me now.
The weight I’ve carried for so long is crushing me from the inside.
For years, I’ve hidden behind words, behind stories, behind the illusion that everything was fine—when it never really was.
But the truth has a way of clawing its way to the surface, no matter how deep you bury it.
And now, I can’t hide anymore.
When I started writing, I thought big words and clever phrases would make me stand out.
I believed complexity was the hallmark of greatness.
But instead of building bridges with my readers, I built walls. Instead of connecting, I confused.
That’s when I learned something I wish I’d understood from the beginning: writing isn’t about impressing—it’s about being understood.
Here’s what I’ve discovered along the way:
-
Simplify. Words like “commence” and “utilize” might sound fancy, but they only complicate the message. Now, I just say “start” and “use.” Simplicity is clarity.
-
Short Sentences. Long, winding sentences don’t stick. The shorter the sentence, the sharper the impact.
-
Cut the Ambiguity. I used to write things like, “In order to bring about change, one must endeavor to focus on personal improvement.” Now, I just say, “To change, improve yourself.”
Every time I write now, I ask myself, “Would my younger self understand this?” If not, I rewrite it.
But here’s the thing—this isn’t just about simplifying words. It’s about why I need to write this now. Why I can’t hold back any longer.
And trust me, you’ll want to keep reading.
