I wanted to start a business but I had only Ksh 1,000. I noticed that students loved snacks but often found them expensive at nearby shops. I decided to buy ingredients and make samosas. With my Ksh 1,000, I bought: Minced meat – Ksh 400 Wheat flour – Ksh 200 Cooking oil – Ksh 300 Spices – Ksh 100 I made 50 samosas and priced each at Ksh 30. In one afternoon, I sold all of them, making Ksh 1,500. After deducting costs, I had a profit of Ksh 500. Lessons Learned:
- Start Small & Reinvest – Instead of waiting for big capital, I used what I had and reinvested my profits.
- Know Your Market – I identified a need and priced my product affordably.
- Quality Matters – My samosas were fresh and tasty, bringing repeat customers.
- Word of Mouth is Powerful – Happy customers spread the word, growing my sales. This small start eventually grew into a business where I supplied snacks to nearby hostels and small restaurants. #MyFirst1Ksh
