In 2024, Voice of Dagoretti CBO had the incredible opportunity to work closely with young people and women across Nairobi, Kenya. We are proud of the significant strides made, especially in empowering young mothers with financial literacy and yoghurt-making skills, which are key to their sustainability. We also engaged various communities on important issues like Gender-Based Violence (GBV) advocacy across Nairobi's sub-counties.
Our collaboration with different health facilities in promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health through performing arts and murals was also a key achievement. However, our biggest highlight was the Mental Health Mtaani program, which takes place every last Saturday of the month. This initiative aims to bring young people together for discussions on mental health, while also connecting them to mental health services in different institutions.
Thanks to our partners and well-wishers, we were able to donate over 2,000 sanitary pads to girls across the Dagoretti sub-county. Through performing arts in markets, and community empowerment through magnetic theatre and traditional dance, we have witnessed transformative impacts on both the community and the youth we work with.
As we step into 2025, we are excited about expanding our programs to more sub-counties and seeking partnerships and support from well-wishers. The year ahead is filled with new challenges, but we remain determined to continue our mission of empowering and uplifting our community.
