In most Kenyan villages and old Nairobi estates there existed make-shift movie theatres; that hosted tens to hundreds of loyal fans at any particular weekend.
Football โฝ matches, DJ afro movie ๐ฟ ๐ฅ renditions, wrestling ๐คผshows were a crowd favourite๐.
Each show was charged at 10 bob or 20 bob per screening and the owner of the place made extra coin by hawking ๐ฅ groundnuts, boiled maize or mahindi choma ๐ฝ to the revellers.
So popular and packed were these dingy establishments that it was not uncommon to find bare-chested men cheering their favourite team ๐บ๐ฝ๏ธin these dark and congested movie 'halls'.
