In most Kenyan villages and old Nairobi estates there existed make-shift movie theatres; that hosted tens to hundreds of loyal fans at any particular weekend.

Football ⚽ matches, DJ afro movie 🍿 🎥 renditions, wrestling 🤼shows were a crowd favourite😁.

Each show was charged at 10 bob or 20 bob per screening and the owner of the place made extra coin by hawking 🥜 groundnuts, boiled maize or mahindi choma 🌽 to the revellers.

So popular and packed were these dingy establishments that it was not uncommon to find bare-chested men cheering their favourite team 📺📽️in these dark and congested movie 'halls'.
