Meshers let’s talk reality 👇🏾🔥 Should Kenya shift focus from degrees to technical skills to solve unemployment? Truth be told… unemployment kwa ground ni real. Every year thousands graduate with degrees from universities like University of Nairobi and Kenyatta University — but job market haisongi hivyo. Papers zinaongezeka, opportunities haziongezeki. Now the big question… 👉🏾 Do we need more degrees or more skills? Let’s be honest meshers — Fundis, welders, electricians, mechanics, plumbers, beauticians, content creators, software developers — hawa watu hawakai bila kazi sana. Why? Because skills solve immediate problems. Hapa ndio Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) and TVET colleges come in. These institutions train vijana on practical skills that the market actually needs. Reality check 💡 • Not everyone needs a degree. • Not every degree guarantees a job. • But almost every community needs skilled hands. Look at countries like Germany — their vocational training system is strong and respected. Skilled workers earn good money and are valued. In Kenya, if we: ✅ Invest more in TVETs ✅ Equip them with modern machines ✅ Remove stigma that “TVET ni ya failures” ✅ Link students directly to industries Then yes — TVETs can reduce unemployment big time. But let’s be clear — it’s not about killing degrees. It’s about balance. Kenya needs doctors, engineers, lawyers — but we also need 10,000 skilled technicians building this country. Comrades, what do you think — Is it time we normalize technical skills and biashara mindset over just chasing certificates?
