My freelance journey When I got my first freelance job as a virtual Assistant, I remembered being so excited, it was a 3 months contract job, and I was to be paid 250$ since it was my first month and my probationary month but Subsequently, it would be increased to 500$. I was more than happy to accept the offer, the onboarding process was done and I started working, My dears, nothing prepared me for the load of work that was ahead of me, and I admit, I wasn't prepared for it. Technically, I have never used some of the apps but I knew I was going to find my way around it after sometime, (even if I had to pay to learn it.) Because of this, my first week was slow and embarrassing. My client said he didn't mind if I asked any questions I didn't understand, he was patient ( So I thought). He also put me through most of it and i was really grateful and I said to myself I was going to do better the second week and make it up to him. Fast forward to the second week, ( I got a new system, i took lessons over the weekend) but on Monday, to my greatest dismay, my client rescinded the contract on the basis that I wasn't well equipped and prepared for the job. To be honest again, I wasn't, but I was hurt because it was just the first week but I realized that people want value for their money and sentiments don't pay bills. Someone once said and I totally agree. "90% of a job can be learnt, give people a chance" I got another job from word of mouth and this second client gave me a chance and What I learnt from my first failed job I applied it to it and other jobs. Sometimes, it takes just one person to give you a chance and when you get that chance, don't blow it up, be prepared, keep learning and most importantly, don't give up on yourself, the best is yet to come.
