My humble plea to my government;
The rains this time round didn't disappoint and wakulima saizi mwenye alijituma amavuna proper so there plenty of food all over the country but my problem lies with brokers wenye najua sasa washaanza kuingia mashinani Ku exploit wakulima. In places like ukambani land where I originally come from wakulima ukua exploited Sana by brokers wenye ata hawajui the cost of farming and the stress and hard work that goes into farming. This brokers Will take advantage of these people's poverty and buy their food na bei za madharau only for them to come back and sell same food to the same poor wanainchi and make billions. My question is shouldn't the government come up with measures to protect these wanainchi from these exploiters? shouldn't they help these wanainchi put up regulatory boards or committees to oversee the selling of these farm products and have controlled prices or help these wanainchi train them on the best storing Way coz si wote who wants to sell. Before these harvests we as a country we had experienced a severe drought so if the government doesn't come up with ways of storing the food Kenyans already have their forms it will be just a matter of time before we go back to the same drought and food shortages. Below are some of the measures I think the government should put in place to ensure that the food already in kenyans farms is properly utilized for now and new future; 1)The cereals board should be funded so as to build more storage facilities then buy these farm produces from farmers and store them so we can never experience the hunger the country experienced in the last couple of years. 2)The government should also ban the selling of maize,beans or any kind cereals out side Kenya so as to make sure that we have enough food for the country in the next couple of years. 3) Make insectcide/pesticides ,storage sacks and other things needed for preservation and storage of cereals easily available and affordable to all wanainchi. 4) Deal with cartels once and for all for most of the problems we face as a country is because of these cartels ..the real definition of a cartel is " someone/people who create a problem , a need or scarcity and pretend to bring a solution for their own benefit or enrichment! Well thats my 2 cents thoughts on what the government should do with the abundance of the food that we have in Kenya right now so we can never experience the food shortages we experienced last year!.. these are just my thoughts as Charles " odeh " maweu ...a concerned kenya
