My journey so far as a junior software developer ⚡
In tech when you compared your knowledge and understanding of different tech concepts with others it easier to feel like an imposter. Some people know so much and there is so much to learn. When you get caught up on that fomo the downward spiral begins. You try to learn as fast as you can but your anxiety keeps on getting in the way; this makes you resent your ability to grasp new concept even more, before you know it a couple of months has passed and you don't have much to show for it. With this the pressure intensifies, you find yourself going back to try and grasp the basic concepts again to make sense of this whole mental chaos you have created for yourself. Desperate to show results this second approach is more fear driven than the first one and your rabbit hole keeps getting deeper; giving up feels like the single best option, at this point everyone thinks you are just lazy and with no results trying to talk your way out of it kinder proves their point. Your back is now pressed on the wall, you don't have skills to look for a job, just so much information which is kinder useless if you don't channel it on a verifiable product, basically you are on your own and your emotional & mental stability rely on you believing on yourself because clearly no one else around is doing it; if anything they are just offering advice on what you should do instead, criticising your pursuit as a dead horse and maybe they right but can you live with the weight of quitting your dreams simply because someone didn't understand your vision? What would that make you? another imposter ? Desperate as you are following your vision through is somewhat the best call to make to avoid the unnecessary existential questions that comes with getting caught up in the noise of others. It might not work out in the end as you intended but at least you didn't lose yourself in the chaos. By just taking your time to learn slowly now you can say you know something and that way better than mental cluster of so much information you can't channel towards a specif visible outcome. cheers 🥂
