One day, a man killed a large ox and roasted it. Then he said to his brother: "Go invite our friends and neighbors to come and share this meal."
His brother went out and shouted into the street: "Help! Our house is on fire! Come quickly!"
People ran out, some pretended not to hear... but a few ran to help.
Once inside the house, these people discovered an unexpected feast. They ate and drank their fill.
Later, the man said to his brother: "I don't recognize these people... Where are our friends? Our neighbors?"
The brother replied: "These are our true friends. They came without delay, thinking they were saving us. Not to feast.
The others? They didn't even look up."
š Someone who is only there when things are going well, but never when you cry for help... that's not a friend. They're just a casual guest.
