RAW HONEY 101 BASICS
How Raw Honey drips. Takes 10 to 30 secs, this is the basics of identifying real honey. Other methods inlcude; match lighting test. Dip a match stick in Raw honey and light it, this tests the moisture content and or adulteration.
Honey sinking to the bottom of a glass of water(or any less viscous liquid) and only dissolving when one stirs.
Raw honey has a pollen smell(flowers, shrubs and distinctive smell)
Raw honey has a unique taste(affected by age of honey, type of honey, local area and what bees feed on). Generally Acacia Honey being the sweetest, manuka and dark honey being less in sugars(less sugar to bitter taste, yes bitter taste. Good for diabetic )
Raw Honey comes with many shades of colours over 300+. Determined by Age, water content, pollen Bees feed on.
Standard Raw Honey water content ranges from 17 to 21%. Any additional moisture content by rain, during harvesting and or intentional causes the honey to ferment.
Raw Honey contains several strains of yeasts. And can be fermented into mead.
Raw honey contains wax, bee pollen, components of bee parts, propolis and at times Royal Jelly(Queens jelly/food).
Raw Honey contains over 5000 live enzymes, minerals, vitamins, amino acids
Raw Honey Crystallises(solidifies) at temperatures below room temperature. This does not make it go bad. You can dip it in warm water. NB// Do not use boiling water or heat the honey directly as this kills enzymes and destroy many health benefits.
