Sales zimepanda... lakini profit imepotea wapi? š
Hii ni story nilikutana nayo recently while preparing a client's P&L.
Sales zilikuwa zimepanda.
Selling price pia ilikuwa imeongezeka slightly more than the product cost.
So naturally, you'd expect profit ikue.
Instead, profit ilikuwa ime-tighten sana.
Nikaingia kwa numbers.
Nikapata culprit:
š Freight costs.
Biashara ilikuwa imeanza ku-deliver products further to reach more customers.
More customers ā more sales.
Lakini pia...
More sales ā more delivery costs.
Na hiyo cost ilikuwa inaingia almost automatically with every sale.
Hapo ndio lesson iko:
Revenue growth si always profit growth.
Biashara ikigrow, angalia pia cost ya hiyo growth.
More sales inaweza kuleta:
ā More delivery costs ā More staff ā More storage ā More payment fees ā More working capital
Sometimes unauza more...
...lakini una-spend even more to make those sales happen.
So usiangalie tu:
"Sales imepanda?"
Uliza pia:
"After paying for that growth, what's actually left?" š
Because revenue tells you how much came in.
Profit tells you what remained.
And sometimes, that's the number you really need to watch.
