“The unexamined life is not worth living.”
Same applies to a business.
Especially one that’s growing.
Because growth can hide problems.
Sales zinaweza kupanda while cash, margins and financial control zinashuka.
That's why a business health check shouldn't be an annual event.
Think of it like a medical check-up.
You don't wait until you're seriously sick.
You check early.
For a growing business, I’d regularly look at 3 things:
1️⃣ Cash Can you comfortably pay your bills when they fall due?
2️⃣ Profitability Sales zinaongezeka, but are you actually making more money?
3️⃣ Financial position Is the business getting stronger?
→ Debt iko wapi? → Receivables zinakua? → Inventory imekwama? → Assets and liabilities ziko balanced?
Because small problems compound.
A margin drop today.
Slow collections tomorrow.
A liability missed somewhere.
12 months later, you have a much bigger problem.
The goal isn't to have zero financial problems.
It's to spot them while they're still manageable.
And the faster your business grows, the more important this becomes.
More sales.
More customers.
More transactions.
More things that can quietly drift.
Don't just grow the business. Check what the growth is doing to it.
