•The cost of importing 1 litre of Refined petrol,is 81.88kes- This includes the cost of crude oil,refining it,shipping it,insurance and handling it at the port. 81.88kes

•The VAT (16% general government revenue) on this petrol - is 22.09kes per litre

• The excise duty- Another Tax aimed at also generating revenue and addressing things like environmental impact, is - 21.95kes per litre

.Road maintenance levy- a fuel levy is tax imposed on petrol and diesel to fund specific public initiatives. In this case Road maintenance to maintain the 239,122 kilometer road network in kenya. This costs - 25kes per litre

• To fund the operations of EPRA- 0.75kes per litre

•Railway development levy - To support the development and maintenance of Railways in kenya like SGR - 1.56kes per litre

• Import declaration fee- Ati charged on all imported goods to regulate trade,for this petrol is charged - 1.65kes per litre
