You see how most of us start the year, “This is my year, nitasave pesa, biashara itainuka, siwezi kubaki nyuma, huu mwaka lazima waniite Boss,” and all the kosokosos. That’s how I started 2024, but before April, my business was really struggling. Reality ilinishow dust, and the only goal afterward was to cope and not lose my mind. In May, I closed the business.
Serikali, maze, imekuwa kama Ex asiyejui boundaries. Wameongeza taxes mpaka unajiuliza, "Wana-tax oxygen lini?" Ati they are creating an enabling environment for startups... enabling environment yenyewe iko wapi? If enabling means so many businesses closing up or so many youths entering the matrix ya job hunting, I don’t think they are doing it right.
With no business, I started job hunting, ata zile za "qualified with experience ya 15 years at 24" nmejaribu, but with no luck. In 2024, I survived on freelancing work as long as it put food on the table. Hata hivyo, gigs zilikuwa scarce. Niliandika CVs za watu wengine na sijapata kazi yangu mwenyewe bado. Some nights, nililala niki-google, “How to survive being jobless and broke without crying daily.”
But despite everything, resilience imenijenga. Life said, “We listen, we don’t judge.” I learned to laugh through struggles, accept rejection, and move on. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and now, Hope and Resilience are officially my middle names.
Merry Christmas na Stay Hopeful! 🎄
