How Sabrina Shillah Turned Her Savings into a Beauty Hustle In Kakamega
For Sabrina Shillah , beauty is more than just makeup and accessories, it’s passion
The young business lady runs a mobile makeup service, doing house calls across Kakamega. Alongside that, she sells jewellery and hair accessories to her growing list of customers.
“I started this hustle because I wanted to make ends meet and become a better version of myself. I also want freedom in everything, especially financial freedom.” Shillah shares.
Her journey began with only her own savings. “I had some little savings na nika decide, let me start something from what I have,” she explained. The money was enough to buy a few products and start offering services.
Her first customers were close to home. “My first customers were my family. I’m so happy to have a supportive family.” From there, word of mouth and good communication helped her find more clients.
She believes in being honest with customers and sometimes offering discounts. “Once in a while kuweka offers kidogo keeps them coming back.”
Her love for beauty started long before the business. “I have a great passion for beauty, tangu nikuwe mdogo. That’s why I enjoy what I do.”
But the hustle has its challenges. At times, customers take products and delay payment. “It’s tough when I need to order new stock and the money is still pending.”
Sabrina Shillah joined MESH recently and she says, “MESH is a good platform for learning what other youths are doing. You see ideas, you get motivated, and you realise you are not alone.”
Her advice to other young people who want to start a hustle? “Confidence, consistency, and God above all. Hakuna shortcut, jitume tu.”
