From indigenous trees to fruits, vegetables and even decorative plants, her nursery is slowly becoming the go-to place for quality seedlings in Voi, Birikani.

How do you start a seedling business?
With a starting capital of only KSh 5,000, given to her by her mother and a small space in their backyard, Reisa set up her first batch of seedlings.
That humble beginning would later attract her first clients.
“My first big order came from someone planning an event. They needed large ceremonial trees for decoration,” she recalled.
“I rented out the trees at KSh 2,000 per day for three days. That gave me the push I needed.”
From there, her business grew by word of mouth. She’d walk to farms and homesteads looking for orders.
Now, thanks to referrals and online posts, customers reach out to her directly.
What keeps them coming back? “Quality. I make sure what I sell is something I’d also use.” Reisa explains.
Can green hustles grow into full-time income business?
Running the business comes with its own set of challenges. “Pests are a big issue and here in Birikani, water shortage is a real problem.” Still, Reisa has no regrets. “I love this hustle. It gives me peace. I get to do something I truly enjoy.”
After joining MESH, Reisa says her confidence grew. “Before, I didn’t know how to post my work online. But now I do.
I’ve learned to share my journey and I’ve even attracted more customers.”
For anyone who wants to start a business or grow their hustle. “Be patient. Don’t rush the process. Money will come.
This business helped me buy a plot and now I’m teaching my daughter about entrepreneurship. If I did it, you can too.” She says.
